Happy "Pastor"versary

...as one of the children at church wrote in her handmade card. Yesterday Christ Our King celebrated Tom's 15th anniversary there with a surprise preacher and dinner. Most of you probably know how much Tom "loves" surprise parties, but it turned out to be a very nice event. Roosevelt Gray delivered a very nice, focused on Jesus, message. After late service there was a dinner where there was a special slide presentation (prepared by Heidi and Emily), Praise Team music, a comedy routine, presentations by Pastor Dean and the Chairman of the Elders, and then an "open" mike. Many people spoke and that's when it got emotional, especially when first Opa took the mike and then Mary. It was all very touching and a little like Tom was witnessing his own eulogy. Then they asked Tom and I to both say something. Tom is used to that, but me, not so much. But I muddled through it. There were also many generous gifts. I didn't get any pictures, but many other people did and perhaps I'll have some to post at another time.

Yesterday was such an uplifting day at Church and then at the dinner. I felt like I muddled through my words as well, you however did a great job. I am so blessed to have you and Tom in my life.

It would have been nice to witness this event in person, however as Pastor Schmidt put it, "Joyce and Mark P will be teaching with the buns." Thanks for the post, I hope there are photos to follow.
