Fashion!

I usually don't get into fashion much. It's probably obvious that it's not high on my priority list, but several things have caused me to focus on it:

The Oscar's last night;



Wondering about who makes all of Hillary's suits;



Stopping at two shopping malls on the way home Saturday;



Watching "Project Runway";



And, of course, my quest for an outfit for Andy and Christie's wedding;



How much would a personal designer cost??

Off to the Beach! I Think

Grand Haven's Lighthouse -- BRRRR!




Tom and I are off to Grand Haven in the morning (weather permitting). I didn't expect this snow tonight, so we'll see! At least it will get us ready for Grand Haven's weather--they've had lots of snow this year. We're looking forward to spending time with Andy and Christie, having dinner with the Racey's, and visiting some of the wedding venues.

What Have I Got Myself Into??

I wish I could say that my sewing room looks this neat! HAH! Right now my sunroom has becoming my sewing headquarters. And it's a mess! My intention was to make a "dummy" model of the outfit I'm going to make for Andy's wedding. First attempt: Jacket - Outcome - I made two right armed sleeves instead of a right and a left - GRRR! and I decided even if I did it correctly I don't like it--collar sticks up too far - abandon that plan. Second attempt: Try the pattern for the skirt - skirt's too short for my liking - abandon that plan. Went to Joann's to buy a different pattern - started the jacket last night - I'm using an unused bedsheet to make my dummy copy - so far so good - except that I'm having to do quite a bit of pattern adjusting - I wanted the jacket to be a little longer than what the pattern calls for. I'm hoping this one will be JUST RIGHT! If I get too nervous to cut into the expensive silk for the real outfit, I may just wear a bedsheet to the wedding! :)

It's a Five Dog Night!

Heidi brought her kids out tonight on this "Five Dog Night". So I read them this story. In this story Ezra needs five dogs in his bed at night to keep him warm. I don't think I'd want five dogs to do the job, but it sure is a five dog night! Stay warm, everyone!

Taking a Day Off!

My head is stuffed, my ears hurt, I'm feeling yucky, I'm staying home.

I can't remember the last time I've taken a sick day. Last night I felt particularly bad, and not quite as bad this morning--so now I'm feeling guilty. Oh well, I shouldn't expose my students, right? Actually I think they exposed me--two in particular were stuffed and slurpy all week. I'm hoping this is just a cold. Our principal has been out a week with fever, headache, etc. A day off will be helpful and rejuvenating--a week off, not so much!
