Elapsed Time

This week I'm trying to teach one of my students how to read an analog clock, and another one how to figure elapsed time! I don't feel qualified to teach about elapsed time -- because I can't figure out where the time goes. Heidi and Christie's new way of showing their "Blogs I Read" makes me realize how fast my time disappears. This weekend we get an hour of that time back. I wonder how I'll use it! Here's one of Christie's favorite kind of questions for all of you to ponder on-- if you could do anything you want with an extra hour of time, what would it be?

Where'd she go?

Three of my grandchildren are still sleeping upstairs this morning. Heidi asked me to watch the kids last night and so we decided to have a sleepover. Quinn and Avery wanted the waterbed and Kaleigh wanted the floor-so that worked out well. This morning I peeked in to check on them and Kaleigh was gone! Did she crawl around the other side of the bed? Did she wander somewhere else in the house? My heart started to race a little. Then I looked a little closer. The sleeping bag she slept on was a little lumpy. There she was--completely under both layers of a heavy sleeping bag. I guess she must have been cold! After checking to make sure she was still breathing, I left them to their continued sleep.

Sleeping In

Today, one of my schools was supposed to go to a conference in Indiana. They chose to save money and not attend, but instead will have meetings at school which will start later than the usual school day. I will be attending the meeting also, but had the opportunity to sleep in. Ha! Why is it that when you want to sleep longer you can't? In fact I woke up earlier than usual. So this morning I have plenty of time to blog!

Amazing!

I'd had enough of reading my textbook for my class last evening, so I turned on "Dancing with the Stars". First of all, I can't believe Cloris Leachman is 82 years old, and secondly, I can't believe how incredibly agile she is for her age. I danced quite a bit on Saturday night at Chris and Corrie's wedding and I actually felt pretty good the next day. But when I watch how well Cloris can move, I'm thinking I should maybe take Tom up on the offer he made a while back to take dancing lessons. (He actually had witnesses.) What do you think, Tom?

Is This Better?

I was really getting sick of looking at that picture of Hillary--so is this better? A rerun of one of my favorite fall pictures from last year!

Stumped for Words

Does this look like me?? Oh my goodness, I hope not! For my class this week I have to make up a conversation I would have, giving corrective feedback to a paraprofessional to whom I had assigned a task. Number one--I don't have a paraprofessional to whom I would ever assign a task, and Number two--I'm stumped about what task I would assign in this make-believe scenario, and Number three--I'm stumped for words. Any ideas?? Maybe I should call Hillary--she's probably not too busy these days.

Retreating!

This afternoon, after going to Grandparent's Day at Avery's kindergarten, I'm off to Mi-Chin-Doh Retreat Center near Hillsdale for Christ Our King's Annual Ladies' Retreat. It should be a beautiful weekend. However, not too many are going this year--is it the economy? This year they asked me to provide the music, so I'm toting my guitar and a Powerpoint slide show of songs along (I spent much too much time finding pictures for the background of each song). Emily and Bob have a retreat of sorts--the girls are spending the night at Aunt Kelly's. Andy and Christie are retreating to Traverse City. How about the rest of you? Any retreating?
Have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday, Mary!

I love this picture of Mary! It's depicts her so well -- organizing, leading, having fun with kids! She has more energy than anyone I know -- especially for someone that is forty--mmm-mmm! I love you, Mary! Have a great and wonderful birthday! I'm sure you're spending a good part of it doing something on behalf of kids.

Wedding Wait

I just attended the wedding of Jenna and David. What a beautiful couple! One of the too few weddings we attend where the couple truly is including God in their marriage. They will have a great marriage. Now I'm waiting while the picture taking is going on (I'm sure Tom is wishing he had a cardboard cutout of himself.) We will be heading to the Polo Fields for the reception. Last weekend a new teacher at one of my school's was married. In a couple of weeks we will be at Historic Trinity for the Wasilewski-Jacobs wedding. I'm pretty sure that today is the day that Christie and Andy's friend, Margaret, is getting married. God be with all the newlyweds!
